Music At School or Elsewhere

Julia is happy to provide work for her students to do at school in the circumstances where the student is ahead of the school curriculum, which is usually the case when a student has private music lessons.

She is always keen to liaise with school music teachers to ensure the best outcome for her students both at school and in her own studio.  She welcomes contact from school music teachers concerning current students or any other issues.

Julia will enter her students for examinations and eisteddfods as required and provide them with opportunities to perform publicly.

A termly concert is also run in her purpose built well equipped studio.

Parents, Relatives etc

Julia is keen to have parents involved with the learning and lessons of their children as she believes in a team approach. She is always open to ideas and easily reached when her students have queries. She encourages relatives and friends to be involved in her student’s music making such as in the playing of duets, attendance at concerts.

Plans

Julia has a strong holistic approach to all education and therefore tailors her education to the needs of the individual. It would be unusual to find more than two or three of her students using the same book. She spends extensive time planning for each individual student to produce individually tailored plans to suit each student. Julia is aware that she is teaching the PERSON, not the instrument.

Julia has an extensive reference library and keeps herself up to date by attending workshops, conferences, and reading current journals issued by various musical organisations. She is a useful person to engage if your child is unsure which instruments best suits them as Julia can introduce them to a number of different instruments. If, however, Julia thinks a student has outgrown her in one of her less experienced areas , she is more than pleased to pass them on to a specialist, although sometimes this may involve more travelling for the student.
